CRAFT > DECOUPAGE
Découpage is the art of cutting and gluing colored paper on different mediums, in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf and other decorative elements. “Decoupage” actually comes from the French word “decouper,” which means "to cut out" or "cut" from something else. Commonly, an object like a small box or an item of furniture is covered by cutouts from magazines or from purpose-manufactured papers. Projects are enhanced not only with papers and fabric, but with painting effects, gold leaf, ink, embellishments, and even other mediums. Using this technique you can also repurpose and upcycle old furniture, plates, cans, bottles etc.
