Doodle Art : Beginners Guide

What Is Doodling :
Doodling is a rough drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. It can be of anything and on anything …paper, napkins, paper cups etc. It promotes visual thinking where we express our thoughts in the form of sketches or designs while not been fully conscious of it. It might be that we are talking on the phone or listening to music but letting the creative ideas flow while not been mindful of it. In other way we can say that it gets the neurons to fire and expands the mind. It improves cognitive skills in children and also helps to enhance focus, engagement and thus memory. Creative thinking and visual reasoning also get a boost while creating doodles.
It's evidence that doodling isn't a sign of a distracted brain. Instead, it is the useful tool of a brain that is trying to stay focused. Doodling keeps your brain connected enough to the task at hand that it doesn't skip off to other, more fanciful, lines of thought when the current task is boring.
It is an important way for everyone to relax, stay focused, grasp new concepts, retain information, think creative thoughts, improve memory, and achieve better health. It is a good way of expressing creative energy and to solve problems.

5 P’s of Doodling
• Pen / Pencils – Choose any pen to suit your drawing style. It depends upon what you want your final project to look like. Gel pens, colored pencils, fine-line markers, and crayons will all work. With colored markers and gel pens, the colors will be more vibrant. Colored pencils give a softer look and allow you to shade and blend. Crayons create interesting textures.
• Paper – any paper … note-book, grid paper (gives u guidelines) , sketchbook, newspaper or any random paper.
• Practice – just draw… at least daily … basic shapes, alphabets, numbers, lines, create other designs and patterns with them … eg-pizza doodle … draw with pencil first then use pen.
• Patience – it doesn’t happen overnight. Take time n develop your own style … kitchen items , cartoons, kitchen items.
• Perseverance – don’t judge urself and compare urself with others.. just enjoy what you do and focus on positives. Do it for yourself.

There are no rules for doodling. So, while doodling, don’t worry about making and perfecting the art. It is only an uncontrolled outlet for your thoughts. . The key is to just have your brain turning on and letting those thoughts flow through your pens and pencils.
